Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Underground Shift Supervisor to coordinate underground mining activities on a daily basis, prioritizing resources, machinery, and personnel to achieve targets as outlined in the mine plan. This position involves managing daily production, overseeing mine safety, and ensuring compliance with statutory and mining regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years of underground experience in mechanized hard rock mining.
- At least 5 years in a supervisory position within a mechanized mining environment.
- Management or leadership development training.
- Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License with good driving skills.
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Understanding of drilling and blasting techniques, equipment, and human resource capabilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and liaise with employees and site managers.
- Knowledge of mine plans, mining techniques, and production optimization.
- Ability to assess performance and potential of personnel.
- In-depth understanding of mining equipment applications and explosives.
- Familiarity with relevant statutory and mining regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure mining operations are conducted in a safe manner, promptly reporting any safety issues to the Underground Manager and Project Manager.
- Plan daily production levels for the mine and manage control and supervision of mining areas according to regulations.
- Oversee the mine’s duty of care, ensuring employee safety and health.
- Provide guidance to crews and ensure compliance with rosters and daily operations.
- Conduct daily work planning meetings and toolbox sessions.
- Ensure new staff are inducted according to AUMS Geofields and client requirements.
- Submit incident reports and ensure training for shift personnel is conducted safely.
- Liaise with contractors to ensure coordination with other mining activities on site.
