Job Description
Scope of work Under the supervision of the Partnership Specialist, the incumbent will:
Private sector engagement strategy
- Develops and maintains deep knowledge and familiarity of the existing and prospective private sector partners and other relevant stakeholders
- Routinely review and update the private sector engagement strategy based on current trends
- Strengthens the private sector engagement strategy to promote Children’s Rights and Business Principles, Business for Results (B4R) and to leverage private sector support (resources and influence).
Private Sector engagement and partnerships
- Scans and scouts the external environment for opportunities and risks, and shares information on current trends;
- Advises on engagement with private sector partners
- Promotes among associations (employers association, business forums, sectoral associations and confederations the need to develop regulations ensuring protection of children’s rights.
Internal knowledge management
- Tracks engagement with private sector partners and conducts required clearance and due diligence processes
- Performs capacity building related duties to ensure the success of the team, including guiding, training, and coaching short-term staff, including interns and consultants, as required.
- Keeps Country Management Team and relevant UNICEF colleagues informed about the private sector environment
- Provides country programme updates with regards to private sector engagement.
Support of overall resource mobilization efforts
- Identifies, builds and secures Public Private Partnerships (PPP)
- Supports the review and quality assurance of external reports and other documents
- Performs any other tasks as required

The Private Sector Engagement Specialist is a seasoned professional in the field of external relations, in particular private sector engagement and partnership development.
Education
- Advanced university degree (minimum Master’s level) in international development, international relations, political science, business administration, marketing or other related field.
Work Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in external relations, fundraising, resource mobilization and/or private sector engagement related activities
- Proven record in engaging with private sector entities
- Experience in working for a private sector entity locally or internationally in the area of corporate social responsibility or related field is an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of English is required with knowledge of another UN language considered as an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- As an asset, demonstrated experience in engaging private sector entities on child right’s issues
- Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage
