Job Description
Optimize the process flow of general Cargo/Bulk/RoRo Terminal and other goods between land and sea transport by increase efficiency and productivity.
Key Performance Areas:
- Lead, motivate and activate constantly personnel under his supervision
- Exchange information briefly
- Participate in vessel’s berthing schedule and quay planning whenever business requires.
- Set priorities in sequenced work by calamities and take decisions to stop and restart operations taking in consideration all safety norms
- Lead the ship and related terminal operations (Cargo stowage – Cargo delivery, horizontal transport etc.)
- Take regular rounds in quay to monitor the vessel operations.
- Bear out and propagate terminal policy and gives form to it.
- Ensure that all safety regulations are duly applied for all equipment.
- Ensure all relevant data for cargo quantity moving through the gate is properly recorded
- Supervise the handling of heavy lift or oversize cargoes in the container terminal
- Maximize the usage of quay equipment to achieve maximum productivity in vessel and quay side operation.
- Coordinate landside points of work when there is vessel in working operations.
- Monitor and analyse the qualitative and quantitative values of productivity norms
- Monitor the quality of work of personnel employed as well as the cost aspects thereof
- Execute administrative duties such as:
- Reporting
- Ship operation Reports
- Damage reporting and claims
- Plan and maintain personnel availability
- Presence justification of personnel
- Organize the equipment needs for the operations in consultation with the technical department
- Supervise the BGC Team permanent manning of the terminal
- Draft, write, observe, and adapt the procedures
- Identify stages in a typical performance management cycle including setting smart goals and the processes for monitoring performance effectively and providing constructive feedback.
- Manage and improve the individual team and divisional performance to achieve organizational goals and strategies
- Participate in managing labours supply to meet operational needs
- Evaluate the employee under his supervision and develop their skills
- Ensure safe position of cranes during berthing, sailing and extreme weather conditions
- Ensure vessel position in wharf is according to the berth plan
- Ensure all items in vessel inspection checklist before vessel starting.
- Administrate vessel operations as per crane work program to ensure set production targets are met
- Serve the clients to meet their satisfaction
- Ensure All External trucks are serviced to the minimum time.
- Ensure Trucks are positioned properly in quay.
- Responsible to acquire and distribute all the documents to be used for discharge and load operations
- Administrate optimal allocation of available resources to achieve set production targets
- Supervise on board and on wharf vessel operations including lashing
- Ensure confirmation to work procedures
- Liaise with Superintendent for any problems encountered or changes required to crane program during loading and discharge.
- Ensure safe handling of Cargos
- Give instructions to Forman about work plan
- Ensure that all cargo holds cleaned and sign on from chief officer after completion.
- Generate and sign off accident and damage reports and report it to Superintendent.
- Monitor and record BGC activities during the shift and transmit to Superintendent.
- Monitor and record vessel productivity and delays
- Adhere strictly to all work procedures. (SOP)
- Handle any other task as allocated by GC & Bulk Superintendent
- Able to Maintain external contacts with vessels chief officers, RSPA pilots, Outsource Companies, mooring men and truckers concerning all operational matters.
KPIs:
- Safety: Zero damages /accidents in shift and follow up all activity according to safety rules
- Traffic control in the BGC storage area and iron ore pellet terminal.
- TTT
- Free Pedestrians within the GC terminal, Reach level of Zero Pedestrian
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor Educational Degree
- Rigging and lifting certificate Preferred
Experience and Skills Required:
- Work Experience in minimum 4 years and preferable 6 years in the terminal
- Knowledge of Terminal Activities
- Knowledge of Safety Procedures
