Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) is an Executive Agency of the President's Office, Regional Administration and Local Government, (PO-RALG), established under Section 3 (1) of the Executive Agencies Act. (Cap. 245) by Order published in Government Notice No.211 dated May 12, 2017; and was inaugurated on July 02, 2017. The Agency is vested with the responsibility of develop, maintain, improve road safety, manage environmental impacts and operate axle load control in the district roads network.

The Chief Executive intends to recruit self motivated, qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the following vacant posts for a period of twelve (12) months.

ENGINEER II (27 POSTS)

Duty stations:

Longido DC, Nyangw'ale DC, Chato DC, Katavi Regional Office, Mlele DC, Kagera Regional Office, Ngara DC, Same DC, Rombo DC, Lindi Regional Office, Butiama DC, Rorya DC, Malinyi DC, Tandahimba DC, Nanyumbu DC, Kwimba DC, Mbulu DC, Ruvuma Regional Office, Ileje DC, Mbozi DC, Itilima DC, Ikungi DC, Sikonge DC, Uyui DC, Urambo DC and Handeni DC.

Educational/Professional qualifications:-

• A National Form IV/VI certificate
• Holders of Bachelors in Civil Engineering, Environment Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution and has been registered with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer. The candidate must be Computer literate.
• Fluent in both Kiswahili and English.
• Must be a Tanzanian Citizen

Work Experience:

• Not less than 3 years in Roads development and maintenance Projects

Age Limit:

• Not above 45 years of Age.

Salary:

• According to TARURA Salary Scale.

Duties and Responsibilities;

• To assist in preparation of tender documents for procurement of Works contractors.
• To undertake road inventory, condition and traffic count survey;
• To supervise contractor at site and force account operations;
• To attend regular site meetings and prepare minutes;
• To Manage quality control of maintenance of roads, bridge and construction materials,
• To prepare TARURA road and bridge maintenance plans and budgets;
• To assess emergency works, recommend appropriate intervention and cost;
• To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by Supervisor.

TECHNICIANS II (10 POSTS)

Duty stations:

Mbogwe DC, Misenyi DC, Uvinza DC, Hai DC, Serengeti DC, Chunya DC, Bariadi DC, Nkasi DC, Kishapu DC and Tunduru DC.

Educational/Professional qualifications:-

• A National Form IV/VI certificate
• Holder of a Diploma in Civil, Transportation Engineering or related qualifications from recognized institution or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in respective fields. The candidate must be Computer literate.
• Fluent in both Kiswahili and English.
• Must be a Tanzanian Citizen

Work Experience:

• Not less than 3 years in respective field.

Age Limit:

• Not above 45 years of Age.

Salary:

• According to TARURA Salary Scale.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To inspects and reports on roads and bridge maintenance works;
• To participate in carrying out civil works involving roads construction, maintenance and upgrading as directed by Junior Staff,
• To perform minor maintenance and repair of machines as directed by junior staff,
• To keep records of repair works undertaken for every machine, equipment and civil works,
• To supervise road and bridge maintenance works;
• To undertake road inventory and condition survey;
• To carry out in situ testing;
• To undertake laboratory tests and monitor tests results and trends;
• To prepare invoices for materials testing;
• To undertake laboratory apparatus and equipment calibration;
• To prepare site report;
• To performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

• All applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania with an age not above 45 years.

• Postgraduate/Degree/Advanced Diploma/Certificate.

• Form IV and Form VI national Examination Certificates.
• Professional Registration Certificates from respective Registration Bodies where applicable.
• Birth Certificate.
• Applicants who have worked with public institutions but have unsatisfactory previous records indicating poor performance and found guilty with disciplinary offences shall not be considered and any misrepresentation of such fact shall be subjected to legal measures.
• An applicant should indicate three reputable referees with their reliable contacts.
• Certificate from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by the National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
• Professional certificates from foreign Universities and other training institution should be verified by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE).
