Position: Technical Specialist – Kitchen & Laundry

About the Role

As a Technical Specialist—Kitchen and Laundry, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all kitchen and laundry equipment in the hotel. Your expertise will ensure the smooth operation of key hospitality functions, supporting our commitment to outstanding guest service and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

• Expertise in electromechanical knowledge
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all kitchen and laundry equipment, including ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, and dryers.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues efficiently and provide timely resolutions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and reports as per RIU standards.
• Coordinate with Food & Beverage and Housekeeping teams to minimise downtime during operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety, hygiene, and manufacturer specifications in all equipment usage and repair.
• Provide support during installations, renovations, and procurement of parts.
• Support training and upskilling of junior technicians in the department.
• Be available to respond to urgent breakdowns and technical issues as required.

What We’re Looking For

• Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. With a firm background in laundry machinery repair and maintenance
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a hotel or resort environment.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial kitchen and laundry systems.
• Ability to interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
• Good communication skills in English (knowledge of Swahili is a plus).
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and be on-call when necessary.
