Job Description
The Youth Wing Coordinator (Intern) will manage and oversee the activities of the Youth Wing within the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC). This role focuses on engaging, empowering, and supporting young entrepreneurs, facilitating capacity building, and enhancing participation in business networks. The coordinator will develop and implement strategies to promote youth involvement in economic development initiatives while fostering leadership and business skills.
Main Duties and Responsibilities Program Development and Coordination
- Develop, coordinate, and implement youth-oriented programs and activities supporting entrepreneurship, leadership, and economic empowerment.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance business skills, financial literacy, and leadership among young women.
- Design and execute advocacy campaigns raising awareness of the challenges and opportunities youth entrepreneurs face in Tanzania.
Youth Engagement
- Engage with young women entrepreneurs and youth groups to ensure active participation in the TWCC Youth Wing.
- Build and maintain relationships with youth networks, stakeholders, and partners to foster collaboration and joint initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to young women in business, helping them overcome challenges and expand their businesses.
Networking and Partnerships
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations, government bodies, NGOs, and private sector players to support the youth agenda.
- Represent the TWCC Youth Wing at youth-focused forums, conferences, and networking events.
- Facilitate opportunities for young women to engage in networking events and pitch their ideas to investors.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor the progress of youth programs, providing regular updates and reports to senior management.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of youth programs and activities, making necessary adjustments for success.
- Prepare quarterly or annual reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future initiatives.
Resource Mobilization
- Identify funding opportunities and collaborate with the finance and program team to secure funding for youth-related programs and activities.
- Develop proposals and business plans to attract support for youth entrepreneurship initiatives.
Communication and Advocacy
- Develop and manage communication materials to raise awareness of the Youth Wing’s initiatives, including newsletters, social media posts, and reports.
- Advocate for policies supporting youth entrepreneurship and gender equality in business, ensuring young women’s voices are heard in decision-making processes.
Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise a small team of volunteers or junior staff involved in the Youth Wing’s activities.
- Organize team meetings and provide guidance to ensure smooth execution of programs and activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Gender Studies, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in youth program coordination, entrepreneurship development, or related fields. Proven experience working with young women or youth groups in entrepreneurship or economic development. Experience in fundraising or resource mobilization for youth programs.
Technical Skills and Behavioral Competencies
- Knowledge of challenges facing young women entrepreneurs in Tanzania.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate young women.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
- Passionate about youth empowerment and women’s economic development.
- Creative, resourceful, and proactive in finding solutions.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Fluency in Swahili and English.
