Job Description

Responsible for supporting the Trade Finance Operations Manager to deliver on the business segments strategies and achieve organizational goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the operations of Trade Finance Products ensuring that they operate effectively, efficiently and within Compliance and Regulatory requirements.
  • Understand key operational risk indicators falling under the role and escalate any risk issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's security policy and controls in accessing the system.
  • Ensure screening for all eligible trade transactions is done before submission, AML check and other sanctions related issues are performed
  • Ensure valid and approved customer facility letters for LCs, Guarantees and Trade loans are available
  • Ensure all applications are signed and verified as per customer mandate
  • Manage trade products processes by adhering to operations manual and process maps
  • Ensure that all applications, payments, and claims are dealt with accurately and timely.
  • Daily review and process all trade finance related inward and outward swift messages and follow up for closure.
  • Daily review of maturity reports on various products such as LC Bills, Import LC, Bank Guarantee, Trade loans, unpaid export bills and advise for settlement or closure for non-performing or expired contracts.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • The understanding of Trade Finance deals process flow and rationale behind the procedures
  • Basic understanding of international uniform rules that govern trade products ie. Letter of credits – UCP 600, Demand Guarantee – URDG, URC 522 etc.
  • Ability to analyze the complexities of international trade operations in a multi-party transactional environment
  • General understanding of legal requirements in terms of Trade Products and the implications thereof.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements i.e. Sanctions policy, Exchange Control Rulings and policies, Trade Finance standard policy
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds in a team environment
  • Excellent client communication skills and a strong ability to build client relationships.

  • KYC knowledge

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance/Accounting/Tax or other business-related fields.
  • Certification in Trade Finance – CITF/CPA/CPB will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years banking operations experience preferably in Trade Finance
