Job Description

Responsible for overseeing the financial and operational performance of the bank’s subsidiaries (both banking and non-banking), ensuring alignment with the Group’s strategic objectives, financial policies, and regulatory requirements. The role involves financial oversight, governance support, performance monitoring, operational support, and strategic advisory to optimize the value contribution of subsidiaries to the Group. The incumbent will also advise the parent on ways to optimize group operations and provide adequate support to the subsidiaries.

Principle Responsibilities

Subsidiary Financial Oversight & Performance Monitoring

  • Act as a key liaison between the parent and subsidiaries’ management teams.
  • Monitor financial performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), and strategic initiatives across subsidiaries.
  • Consolidate and analyze financial reports from subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Group financial policies.
  • Identify financial risks, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement, providing strategic recommendations to the subsidiaries and parent executive management.

Governance & Compliance Support

  • Ensure subsidiaries adhere to Group policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices in financial reporting and risk management.
  • Support subsidiaries in implementing IFRS-compliant accounting and financial reporting practices.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit requirements across subsidiaries, ensuring audit issues are addressed on time.
  • Assist in strengthening subsidiaries' controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate financial and operational risks.

Strategic Financial Advisory & Value Creation

  • Support the evaluation of new investment opportunities, acquisitions, and divestitures involving subsidiaries, including participating in due diligence and feasibility analyses for new business ventures and capital projects.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making at the Group level.
  • Drive cost-efficiency initiatives and operational synergies across subsidiaries.

Stakeholder Management & Collaboration

  • Work closely with subsidiary MDs, senior management and Board representatives to align financial strategies with Group objectives.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to the Group CFO and executive leadership on subsidiary financial performance and risks.
  • Serve as a bridge between parent and subsidiaries, facilitating smooth information flow and collaboration.
  • Prepare and present subsidiary performance reports to senior management, committees, and other stakeholders.

Special Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead or participate in strategic projects related to financial transformation, technology implementation, and process automation within subsidiaries.
  • Support initiatives to enhance financial transparency, reporting efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and market developments affecting subsidiary operations.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA, Finance, or related field) or professional certifications (CPA, ACCA, CFA) preferred.
  • Relevant experience in financial oversight, corporate finance, or subsidiary management, preferably within a banking group or financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of banking and non-banking financial regulations, IFRS/GAAP, and corporate governance.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, reporting, and performance management.
  • Exposure to M&A transactions, financial due diligence, and business valuation is an advantage.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives and board members.
  • Strategic mindset with a results-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of banking operations, risk management, and financial planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling tools.
  • Understanding of financial technology and automation tools is a plus.
