Job Description
To lead innovation and continuous improvement initiatives for corporate digital banking channels. The role focuses on enhancing client experience and operational efficiency by driving the design, development, and integration of client-facing digital platforms such as online banking, payment integrations (APIs), collections systems, POS, e-commerce, and other strategic channels. This role also includes management of a team of in-house developers to ensure agile delivery and technical excellence.
Job Description
1. Drive Digital Innovation – 40%
Lead the end-to-end innovation lifecycle—from ideation to deployment—of digital banking products and access channels for corporate clients.
2. Platform Enhancement:
Continuously improve platforms such as Internet Banking, POS, e-commerce gateways, and mobile integrations, aligning with client feedback and evolving market trends.
3. API & System Integration:
Oversee integration of corporate client systems with the bank through APIs, SFTP, and ERP connectors to enable seamless, real-time payment and reporting capabilities.
4. Client Onboarding Solutions:
Develop and maintain scalable digital onboarding solutions that reduce time-to-activate for corporate clients accessing digital channels.
5. Innovation Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor an internal team of developers and systems analysts, ensuring timely delivery of innovation projects using agile or hybrid project methodologies.
6. Security & Compliance Alignment:
Ensure all digital innovations comply with the bank’s information security policies, regulatory requirements, and international standards (e.g., PCI DSS).
7. User Experience (UX) Improvement:
Collaborate with design and product teams to improve the user experience across all client-facing systems, ensuring platforms are intuitive, reliable, and responsive.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Corporate Relationship Managers, IT, Risk, Operations, and Product teams to ensure solutions are feasible, secure, and aligned to client needs.
9. Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
Monitor adoption, usage, and performance of client platforms, identifying opportunities for optimization and proactively resolving client pain points.
Thought Leadership & Benchmarking – 30%
Stay abreast of fintech trends, competitor offerings, and global best practices to inform the bank’s digital strategy and maintain innovation leadership.
Market Scanning & Trend Analysis:
Proactively monitor global trends in digital banking, fintech innovations, and client system integration to inform product development and strategic direction.
Competitive Benchmarking:
Regularly benchmark NBC’s corporate digital offerings against peer banks and fintech players to identify gaps, opportunities, and differentiators.
Innovation Pipeline Development:
Translate insights from market research and client feedback into a structured innovation roadmap, including proof-of-concept (PoC) initiatives and pilots.
External Engagement & Representation:
Represent the bank in relevant industry forums, tech expos, and digital banking roundtables to build visibility, networks, and insight into best practices.
Thought Leadership Content Creation
Collaborate with internal teams to produce thought leadership materials such as whitepapers, case studies, or client presentations showcasing NBC’s innovation leadership.
Team Leadership & Managerial Responsibilities – 30%
Team Management & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of developers, systems analysts, and technical specialists within the innovation unit, ensuring a high-performing, motivated, and agile team culture.
Project Planning & Execution:
Oversee end-to-end planning, prioritization, and execution of innovation initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives.
Agile Delivery Oversight:
Implement agile development practices (e.g., sprint planning, scrums, retrospectives) to drive fast, iterative delivery of digital features and enhancements.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
Set clear KPIs for team performance, track delivery outcomes, and provide regular updates to senior leadership on innovation project progress and impact.
Budget & Resource Management:
Manage resource planning and innovation budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of people, tools, and financial resources to deliver high-impact outcomes.
6. Stakeholder Engagement:
Act as the primary liaison between the innovation team and internal stakeholders (e.g., IT, Risk, Change, Compliance), ensuring alignment and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
7. Quality Assurance & Standards:
Enforce coding standards, solution documentation, and quality control processes to ensure all client-facing systems meet the bank’s technical, security, and service excellence benchmarks.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field is required.
- A master’s degree in business administration (MBA), Innovation, or Technology Management is an added advantage.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master, ITIL, AWS, Azure, API management, or cybersecurity) are desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in digital banking, fintech, or technology-driven innovation within the financial services sector.
- At least 3 years in a managerial or team leadership role, preferably managing developers or cross-functional digital delivery teams.
- Proven experience in designing and deploying corporate client digital platforms such as internet banking, APIs, SFTP integrations, e-commerce, and POS solutions.
- Hands-on experience with system integration, API frameworks, agile delivery, and client onboarding workflows.
- Strong background in stakeholder engagement, especially with product, IT security, compliance, and business relationship teams.
