Job Description
The Blue Alliance is a non-profit organization that partners with governments to establish and manage Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). Our mission is to restore coral reef ecosystems while supporting sustainable economic development for local communities. By bridging the marine conservation financing gap, we foster innovative Blue Economy businesses that contribute to reef conservation.
In collaboration with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, we work to ensure environmental conservation, regulatory compliance, and the promotion of a sustainable marine based economy.
We are seeking a Finance & Administration Officer and a Senior Accountant to oversee financial management, reporting, compliance, and administrative operations. These roles are crucial for maintaining the organization’s financial health and ensuring smooth office operations.
Finance & Administration Officer
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Create purchase orders for organizational activities and all purchases.
- Ensure all payments are made after PO approvals.
- Facilitate the reconciliation of bank accounts and accounts payable/receivable balances.
- Assist in monthly financial verifications and closing procedures.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Adherence to statutory financial regulations.
- File all statutory obligations (TRA, ZRA, ZSSF).
- Stay updated on tax laws, levies, and other regulatory requirements in Zanzibar.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing documentation and clarifications.
Administrative & Office Management
- Provide office support to teams.
- Manage schedules, organize meetings, and handle correspondence.
- Arrange travel, transport, and accommodation for staff.
- Support the management of office assets, including vehicle and motorcycle logbooks, utilities, and the fixed asset registry.
- Facilitate the organization of company events, workshops, and conferences.
- Ensure compliance with administrative policies and report non-compliance to management.
- Facilitate online and hardcopy filling.
Procurement Coordination
- Faciliatte development of purchase order and dispatch,
- Facilitate procurement processes, ensuring adherence to organization policies and proper documentation.
- Use appropriate forms and follow procurement procedures for purchases and contracts.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or auditing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Zanzibar tax laws and regulations is an added advantage.
