Overview

Research on Poverty Alleviation (REPOA) is an independent, non-profit research institution based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Established in 1994, REPOA focuses on generating and utilizing knowledge to facilitate socio-economic development through research, capacity building, and policy dialogue aimed at poverty reduction and pro-poor growth.

REPOA’s main thematic research areas include growth and poverty, gender, environment, agriculture, technology, governance, vulnerability, and social protection.

The organization also serves as Afrobarometer’s national partner in Tanzania, contributing to public opinion research on governance and socio-economic issues.

Over the years, REPOA has played a significant role in influencing socio-economic policies and promoting inclusive development in Tanzania and the broader East African region.
