Overview
Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) is Tanzania’s national referral, teaching, and research hospital, located in Upanga West, Dar es Salaam. Established in 1897, it has evolved through various names and expansions to become the country’s largest healthcare facility.
MNH operates a 1,500-bed facility, serving approximately 2,000 outpatients daily. The hospital employs around 2,800 staff, including 328 doctors and 946 nurses.
In addition to the main hospital, MNH oversees the Muhimbili National Hospital – Mloganzila, a 608-bed teaching hospital located in the Mloganzila area of Dar es Salaam.
MNH collaborates closely with the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), facilitating undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and research initiatives.
