Overview
Institute of Marine Sciences is a specialized institute of the University of Dar es Salaam established in 1979 in Zanzibar. It conducts research and training in marine sciences and coastal management, focusing on sustainable utilization of marine resources, climate change impacts, and biodiversity conservation. IMS provides specialized education at postgraduate level while conducting cutting-edge research that informs policy decisions related to Tanzania’s marine and coastal ecosystems.
