Overview
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a global research and policy nonprofit organization dedicated to discovering and advancing effective solutions to poverty. Founded in 2002 by economist Dean Karlan, IPA collaborates with over 400 leading academics to design and conduct rigorous evaluations of development programs worldwide. These evaluations utilize randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and other quantitative research methods to assess the impact of interventions in sectors such as microfinance, education, health, agriculture, and social protection.
Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) established its Tanzania office in 2017, aiming to enhance evidence-based policy and decision-making across various sectors.
