Baobab Hospital is a healthcare facility located in Mapinga, Bagamoyo District, Pwani Region, Tanzania. It is part of a broader initiative to enhance maternal and neonatal healthcare services in the region.
The hospital is affiliated with the Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT), a local NGO established in 1994. CCBRT has been instrumental in providing comprehensive clinical and community services, particularly focusing on surgical and rehabilitation care for children. In response to the high maternal and neonatal mortality rates, CCBRT entered into a public-private partnership with the Government of Tanzania to establish the Baobab Maternity Hospital in Dar es Salaam. This facility aims to serve as a Designated Regional Referral Hospital, specializing in basic and emergency obstetric services as well as neonatal care.
Baobab Hospital is also associated with Baobab Schools, a group of educational institutions situated in Mapinga village. These schools offer boarding facilities for both girls and boys and are known for their commitment to academic excellence in Tanzania and East Africa.
